long, a long time
  • Have you been here long〔a long〕 time?
  • 2.a long time可用于肯定句中;而long只在受另一副词如too, enough, ago修饰时才用于肯定句。例如:
  • She waited there for a long time.
  • You've been sleeping too long〔long enough 〕.

    how long, how soon

  • “How soon will he be here?”“In two hours.” “How long will he be here?”“For two hours.”

  • It will not be long before I finish the work.
